Just a heads-up, we are not talking about Facebook in this article as you must be knowing for Facebook, its mostly about paying. attract online customers

There are a lot of ways to promote your business and attract potential customers, but in this article I am going to be mentioning 7 ways in which you can attract customers without spending a penny! So let’s dive straight in:

1. Hijack Trending Topics

You can hijack trending topics, for this process you need to be quick and on your toes as you have to inject your brand in real-time angle to get the coverage you want! But for this you need to choose that trending topic which has to be related to your industry or most importantly you have to make it relatable! With this move you will be exposed to a lot of new audiences and if they like what they see, they will simply start following you on your social channels and in-turn will become your paying customers.

Example– During the World Cup semi-finals, #IndvsAus was a trending topic on Twitter, Maggi quickly tapped into that by a quick visual of how the two things that Indians need the most are- World cup & Maggi. They also subtly pushed the thought of consuming their product while watching the game.

2. Be a Friend, to Make a Friend

You can partner up with other brands, by doing so it will get your brand exposed to so many more eyeballs from the neighbouring network. You can collaborate in multiple ways by doing a guest blog, shared-boards on Pinterest or even run a contest/campaign to bring the right coverage!

Example- Etsy on Pinterest has a ton of guest pinners, like this board DailyCandy has a ton of followers as you can see! It becomes a complete win-win situation for both as this board can be viewed on both their profiles, so that many more people they are being exposed too!

3. Provide exclusive discounts

Who doesn’t love a good deal? We all do, thus make sure you provide such exclusive offers to your potential customers so it becomes tough for them to deny. Whenever you put a time frame on something, it makes them act faster as they do not want to lose an opportunity to save money and rake in their favourite products.

Example- Koovs on Facebook has created a sense of urgency with this post of theirs, as their consumers only have 4 hours to avail the products at a cheaper rate and post that they will be back to their normal price. Great way to gain purchases!

4. Leverage the power of UGC

User-Generated Content acts as a great social proof, it shows off the fun your customers are having through those images/ videos shared! Which in-turn makes your potential customers crave for the same experience and leads them straight to your brand.

Example- GoPro only shares their customer’s pictures/videos on their social profiles mainly; like this post on Instagram shows the image shared by their consumer and they have re-used that on their profile. Also it acts as an ultimate social proof that their versatile camera can click any moment with amazing clarity!

5. Provide stellar Customer service

A great product is always expected, but what truly will give your brand brownie points is the customer service you provide. Your duty doesn’t end once your product is sold, infact it starts when they start using the product and need some help from you during the learning curve. These days customer service plays a massive role when it comes to making a purchase decision. Make use of various tools, it will help you monitor and respond quickly!

Example– JetBlue provides stellar customer service on their Twitter profile, where they reply to their customers and tend to their queries and questions until they are satisfied. It just shows customer service is a great way to provide an edge to your brand.

6. Highlight the Perks

Customers love it when they can gain additional perks along with the products/services. Hence, you must provide them with an opportunity and they will definitely grab it. Highlight the perks you provide on your website such as- free shipping, additional accessories or even a freebie with the product. Will definitely lead to more awareness and they won’t hesitate even for a second to brag about it online.

7. Keep sharing Original & creative Content

Gaining new customers is definitely a task, but retaining them is a bigger one (there is no sugar-coating for this one)! For that you need to keep churning out original and creative content so you can constantly keep them gripped and updated. To help keep the flow of content going, create a weekly content calendar and keep jointing down your posts there!

Tip- You don’t need to send out 10 or 20 posts a day, even if you share 1 post a day make sure it is perfect and can truly create an impact. Also, don’t forget to check out these amazing ways to find great content.

As you can see, you don’t have to worry about spending a fortune on marketing your business and attracting new customers. All you need to work on is a great strategy that will work for your business; you can include the above elements to get started and flowing in the right direction. Once you feel like you have made a footing, you can keep experimenting, measuring and tweaking your strategy!

    Hi Harsh,

It is my first visit to your blog. I am glad to be here. Attracting customers and selling product are not easy job. But I am sure if someone follow your tips tricks, s/he can easily attract customers and sell their product. I liked your second point very much. It is easy to sell products by becoming friends of customers since a friend trust another friend.

    Thanks
