Just like Twitter now you have Facebook verified accounts. i.e verified Facebook Pages and Profiles. This is really gonna help users to identify the official account of their favorite brand. Here is what Facebook said-
Today we’re launching verified Pages to help people find the authentic accounts of celebrities and other high-profile people and businesses on Facebook. Verified Pages have a small, blue check mark beside their name on timelines, in search results, and elsewhere on Facebook.
Verified Pages belong to a small group of prominent public figures (celebrities, journalists, government officials, popular brands and businesses) with large audiences. This update is rolling out to profiles as well.
Here are some of Indian Facebook Pages that have been verified so far-
Right now it looks like only some well-known public figures and Pages with large followings are verified by Facebook as having an authentic identity. You’ll see a blue check mark next to their names (as shown above). Hover over the blue badge on a verified profile or Page to learn more about it.
Although Facebook has said that this is for people and brands with large audiences it has not been consistent in its allocation of the verified check mark. The selection process seems highly subjective and to pages who have a better engagement+large audience.
You can simply search for your favorite Fan page on Facebook and check whether it is verified yet or not like this example below.
When asked about How to get a Facebook Page or Profile verified, see what they have to say-
We verify profiles or Pages to help you be sure that they are who they claim to be. Keep in mind that not all authentic profiles and Pages are verified and that you can’t request to have your profile or Page verified. You can report fake accounts that are impersonating you, your business or your brand.
So if you have a Facebook Page or Profile which has a small or not that huge audience this feature is not for you.
